Cone Beam Scanners: Implications for Better Dentistry

NobelGuide dental surgery guides, also known as templates, are created by using the technical data that was commonly available with medical CatScans, which we are all familiar with. Originally, dental patients would be referred to medical scanning facilities to obtain the required scan.

Experienced oral surgeons, periodontists and implantologists alike, used special computer software programs to analyze and assess the technical data generated by the scans. Locating areas of need for treatment became much more exact, compared to the old fashioned xray standard that was only 2 dimensional.

As in medical science, the use of catscans in dentistry proved to be a winning strategy. In a short time dental scans were preferred over conventional xrays, especiallly by doctors who focus on maintaining or correcting critical health factors between teeth, jawbone and connective tissue.

Cone Beam scanners, a hybrid scanning device that is a fraction of the size of a bulky medical scanner, were soon developed that now enables surgeons (Dental, ENT, Orthopedic, Neurological) to obtain a specialized scan of the head and neck that now provides unsurpassed technical data.
